As spring arrives, so does the possibility of an outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease. Legionnaire’s disease is a type of bacterial pneumonia that is caused by Legionella bacteria, which flourish in the air conditioning systems used in many large buildings. National Engineers Week (February 20-27, 2016) is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. We are currently testing an innovative underwater ROV, or remotely operated vehicle, on the Florida coast. We will utilize the ROV, which is expected to be ready in February 2016, in our seawall inspections and related underwater surveys.
